Richard passed away peacefully on November 11, 2020 at home at the age of 80. He is now reunited with his parents August & Clementine and sisters, Grace, Mary, Audrey & Joyce, who preceded him. Richard was a devoted husband to Sue, loving father to Karinda (Derek), Kyra and Nathan, proud Papa to Brianna, Brooke & Jaden and cherished brother to Joanne and Jim. He had many nieces and nephews who he adored. He also loved his furry companion Polar.
Richard graduated from Marmion Academy in 1958 and served in the U.S. Army. Richard started his career at Elgin Courier News which he retired from after 30 years, He then went on to work part time at Kishwaukee Hospital for 15 years. Richard had a special place in his heart for animals, gardening and spending time with his family. Richard will always be remembered for his big contagious smile and his endless sarcastic remarks. Everyone who remembers him should celebrate Richard's life in their own way. Take a ride out in the country, raise a glass of your favorite drink or enjoy your favorite dessert. In leau of flowers, Richard would love if you share a special act of kindness, big or small, for someone less fortunate.
