My sincere condolences to Rick's family and to all who were touched by him. I am so grateful for the support and encouragement he gave me during my college years through my campus SGI Buddhist club meetings. He was always so generous with his wisdom, and his words truly uplifted everyone in the room. Also, his great sense of humor made his guidance easy to receive. He made each meeting feel warm and welcoming. I will always remember his guidance and the positive impact he had on my life.
Krista:  We are so sorry that Rick has passed. Your dedication to him was a true inspiration. In sickness and in health you were the best partner he could have ever asked for.
Heartfelt Condolences to You Krista , Marin and Mariko .  Prayers and thoughts of Comfort for you and your family.

Ben and I have been so lucky to live across the street from a kind and caring neighbor as Rick. He watched out for us when we first moved to the neighborhood and was always quick with a smile and a wave. Krista, Maren and Mariko, I'm so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you all.

Mr. Rick was always a light of joy to be around, i’ve worked with him and Mrs. Krista since the summer. All they’ve ever shown me was kindness and humbleness, even though Mr. Rick was sick, he always seemed to have a smile on his face and find a way to make the room laugh. Another thing that I will never forget is how caring he was for the youth such as myself, he always encouraged me to pursue my career and taught me the importance of what I wanted to do.

Mr. Rick will always have a special place in my heart and I’m so appreciative that I got to be a part of him and Mrs. Krista’s journey, I will continue to pray for him, his two wonderful daughters and  his loving wife ❤️❤️❤️

Sincerely, Leah

Rick was always encouraging to me whenever I needed encouragement Rick was always there most importantly he always made you feel seen when you had a question or did not understand something. Dear Krista, Mariko, and Maren, my deepest condolences to all of you and your family on the loss of Rick Cummings. Back when the girls were young, and I had recently moved to Philadelphia, Rick and I worked together on the committee which processed donations to our local SGI organization. This was at a time before databases and spreadsheets with formulas, yet Rick was a master at managing things efficiently. More than that, he had the ability to be serious, accurate, and humorous all at the same time. Always lighthearted and cheerful, even in the midst of the most onerous paperwork, he shared wisdom and often deadpanned humor. He was a person of deep faith, and truly a Renaissance man. Volunteering together with him at that time remains such a golden memory. Rick, you have left behind a beautiful legacy. Thank you so much!

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Rick Cummings. He was a joyful, warmhearted soul whose humor and light lifted everyone around him. Rick supported me wholeheartedly in my Buddhist practice—always encouraging, always ready to help, and always doing so with that unmistakable spark that made every interaction feel lighter.

His kindness, his joyful nature, and his steady support will stay with me. My heartfelt condolences to his family—may they find comfort, strength, and peace in the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.

I’ll never forget one conversation we had, when Rick began sharing how he chose his career path. He told one story after another—each one a completely different direction in life. And every time we asked, “So did you end up choosing that path?” he would grin and say, “Nope,” before launching into the next story. It was classic Rick: humorous, honest, and full of life. Even in simple moments, he made people laugh and feel at ease.

Rick always smiled and was happy to see and dialogue with people. I remember how he helped navigate the events at Stockton college when the Buddhist club was active. Sending sincere sympathy to family and friends. ❤️Terri and Hisako Reeves
