Ricky's obituary
Richard Paul “Ricky” Cressman, 50, passed away on March 15, 2026, at 1:08 AM.
Born on January 11, 1976, in Baltimore, Maryland, Ricky spent his early years there before moving to Howard County, where he grew up and attended Oakland Mills High School. He later continued his education at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.
From a young age, Ricky was known for his independent spirit and curious mind. He loved taking things apart to see how they worked—often with mixed success putting them back together—but that curiosity stayed with him throughout his life. As an adult, he developed a natural ability with computers and technology; it was something he simply understood.
Ricky had a deep love for music and entertainment. He enjoyed artists such as Prince, Pink Floyd, and Meat Loaf, and was a fan of musicals including Hamilton, Six, and Be More Chill. He could often be found singing along, bringing his own unique energy and humor to the moment.
He found joy in spending time with his family and creating memories together. He loved camping, exploring yard sales and thrift stores with his children, and taking annual summer trips to Knoebels, where his favorite ride was the Phoenix. He also enjoyed being part of the Arts and Athletics Club, where he participated in a production of Putting a Woman to Rest and supported his family in their performances.
Those who knew Ricky will remember him as passionate, silly, stubborn, and wonderfully dramatic—in the best way. He had a way of making people laugh and was never afraid to be a little goofy if it meant bringing joy to those around him.
His children each carry special memories of their dad. Lacey remembers him as someone who truly listened and paid attention to what mattered to her, cherishing moments like seeing Beetlejuice in Philadelphia together. Camille remembers his playful spirit, from exploring thrift stores to making everyone laugh—even dressing up just to be silly—and most of all, the way he made her feel seen, accepted, and deeply loved. Holden remembers time spent with his dad exploring Maryland, where he proudly showed him the places he grew up, including his schools and childhood homes. He also cherished the weekends they spent together, simply enjoying being in his dad’s presence. He describes him as wise, funny, and understanding. To them, he was not only a father, but someone who showed up, paid attention, and made life memorable.
Danielle remembers Ricky as a devoted husband and father—her rock and the one who could fix anything. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and shared experiences. She affectionately called him “Pookie,” a reflection of the bond they shared.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Paul Cressman and Martha Hansen Cressman.
He is survived by his wife, Danielle; his children, Camille (“Casper”), Lacey (“Marcey”), and Holden; his sister, Khristine “Kacy” Leach (Dana); his nephews, Khristopher (Sam), Brandon (Alisha), and Joshua; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Ricky’s faith was a source of comfort, and it brings peace to those who love him knowing he is at rest.
In a final act of generosity, Ricky donated his body to science to support continued research into the rare skin condition he was born with, offering a gift that may help others in the future.
