Richard's obituary
Richard Frederick Cordes, 76, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. He was born on June 30, 1949, in the Bronx, New York, and lived a life defined by service, creativity, and deep love for his family.
Richard was the devoted husband of Lori Cordes, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and mutual respect. He was a proud father of three sons and one daughter, who were the center of his world and his greatest source of pride.
At a young age, Richard answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. That same sense of dedication followed him throughout his professional life, where his passions often evolved into remarkable careers.
A gifted photographer, Richard worked for the Miami Herald, owned and operated his own photography studio, and served as a team photographer for the Miami Dolphins and the University of Miami Hurricanes. His talent and reputation led him to work alongside baseball legends Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford, photographing their Fantasy Baseball Camps, an experience he cherished deeply.
Never one to be defined by a single path, Richard also worked with the Pompano Beach Police Department, where he helped train K-9 units, and later with American Express, managing NFL travel accounts—another role that perfectly blended his professionalism with his lifelong love of sports.
Richard was known for his strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether behind a camera, mentoring others, or spending time with his family, he brought heart and authenticity to everything he did.
Above all, Richard will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud veteran, and a man who lived fully and passionately. He leaves behind a legacy of service, creativity, and love that will continue through all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
