Thinking of dad today and missing him. Hard to believe it has been 3 years.

I miss Rick still. There's a long history. We met at grade school in Manhattan -- at ages even, probably -- and went on to the same prep school. So, ten years, at least, of friendship during our formative years. A lot of memories , a lot of laughs.

I still haven't absorbed the loss I feel or the disbelief. Rick was the brightest, wisest, and most authentic guy I knew, a friend since college, and we weaved in and out of each other's lives as seamlessly as possible, always accepting each other's realities. Rick was always himself; what one saw was who he was. His competencies, confidence, successes, and vulnerabilities made him a giant among men and a hero to humanity. I loved everything about him and
hold Kathy and his family close in my heart.

What does it mean-
When a dear friend will no longer be seen-
Time to rethink life how it has been-
So be clear about who what when where and why-
Thank you Rick for the joy you’ve given to us all -
Tears and laughs as we say goodbye.

I met Rick in 1988 when I joined the men’s over 40 softball league on a team called THE KIDS.
He played third base and was always good for a clean single at bat . We played together for over 20 years And won a number of championships.
I am now in Umpire for that same league, and at the next game, we will share a moment of silence for one of the legends.

Kathy, I also have a hard time believing that Rick is no longer with us. His smile was captivating. His energy was non-stop, and his mind was compelling. Cherish the fun times you had together. It will be comforting to remember that, together, you created a beautiful family and the boys will keep Rick's spirit alive. Love and a hug to you - Joan Herron
