Rick's obituary
Richard “Rick” Edward Anderer, Jr passed away on the morning of October 2, 2025 at his home in Snohomish, Washington.
Rick was born on August 23, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. He was born and raised on the south side of Chicago to parents Richard and Harriet Anderer. Two years later, Rick’s younger brother Jeff was born.
Rick graduated from Morgan Park High School and went onto the University of Illinois before transferring to Southern Illinois University to complete his degree in radio/TV communication. It was at SIU that he met his future wife, Lynn. It was love at first sight and Rick proposed five weeks later.
Rick and Lynn were married shortly after graduation in 1972 and began building their life together. He settled into a career in the insurance industry and took great pride in raising his three daughters with Lynn. Rick and Lynn retired to Snohomish, Washington in 2017 to spend time with family and watch their grandchildren grow up.
Rick was a lifelong lover of his Chicago White Sox and he never failed to remind you of that 2005 World Series win. He was equally passionate about soccer, in several ways: as a dad, a coach, a referee, a fan of his team, the Tottenham Hotspurs and as an employee for the Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association. Rick was an avid reader of historical fiction and loved learning about his dad’s army unit, the Timberwolves.
Rick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynn. He is also survived by his brother Jeff, his three daughters, Laurie (Josh), Carrie (Matt) and Jennifer and his two grandchildren, Nathan and Leah. He is preceded in death by his parents Rich and Harriet.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday October 25th at West Coast Nursery in Monroe, Washington from 2-5pm. This is an open house and the dress code is casual. There will be a brief presentation at 2:30pm from Rick & Lynn’s pastor. We hope this will be a wonderful time to gather, share stories, and celebrate Rick.
