On June 8, 2024, we lost our loving wife and mother, Ricarose (Rica) Novy, after a short struggle against an aggressive cancer. She was born on June 24, 1960 in Candon, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She graduated from Far Eastern University with a degree in English Literature. She immigrated to the United States in 1990 and met her husband, Richard Novy, at the airport in San Jose, California, after a common connecting flight from St. Louis. They started a family and and in 1999, moved to Scottsdale, Arizona.

Rica was universally described as a sweet and caring person. She worked for 25 years at Spine Institute of Arizona in the front office. She was a devout Catholic, prayed the rosary daily, and sang in the choir at church for several years prior to COVID. Spending time with her family was her favorite activity, whether it be traveling to different states, cooking Filipino dishes for eveyone to enjoy, or just sitting at home watching television.

She was preceded by her parents, Teodoro and Rosalina Atok, and her brother Edgar Atok. She is survived by her husband, Rick, her daughters Rachele and Reanna, and her son, Russell.
