Reverend Louis L. Escoto was born in Tucson, AZ on March 5, 1936. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1955, and he received Jesus Christ in his heart as his Savior when he was 19 years old. Almost immediately he was called as a Pastor and attended the Latin American Bible Institute (LABI) under the direction of Reverend Teodoro Bueno and graduated in 1960.

His ministry began under the direction of Pastor Frank Romero in Phoenix, Arizona at Bethel Assemblies of God. He later served as associate pastor in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and later as pastor in Madera, CA. In 1972, he was called by the Lord to begin a work in Phoenix. Thus, he established Ebenezer Church (now Way of Life) in 1974, raising that entire temple from its foundations. During his 23 years of ministry in Phoenix, God used him not only to build a physical temple but also to build His Church and to influence many lives. Following Pastor Frank Romero steps, his fruitful ministry produced many ministers and pastors, many of whom continue to this day in their calling. Ebenezer was a pioneer in its region, helping at the district level in cultivating excellence, with district leaders who developed their ministries in the local church. This work continues today with Way of Life, under the leadership of Pastor Burke Montoya even at District level.

Pastor Escoto believed in the simplicity and the power of the Gospel and often stated that the first calling was to share the Gospel with everyone. “Preach the Gospel”, was the called he received from the Lord; and he lived and fulfilled his calling even on his last days here on earth, testifying to the medical staff at the hospital. He supported and financed works in Buckeye, AZ, ministries in San Luis, Río Colorado y Sinaloa, Mexico, and traveled to Spain nine times with the Full Gospel Businessmen’sorganization, preaching and interpreting there in the early 2000’s.

Pastor Escoto was preceded in death by his first wife of 28 years Rachel A. Escoto, (LABI Class of 1961), and his second wife Jessie Salgado Escoto, (LABI Class of 1961) founder of several women's homes and ministries in the Portland area, Oregon. He was also preceded in death by Jordan Kniss, his grandson from his second marriage. He is survived by Lidia Castorena Escoto, his wife of 19 years, and his daughters, Tess Escoto Arcio (Jeff Arcio) and Marcine Kniss (Jessie) and his granddaughter Camille Peck (through Jessie Salgado). He is also survived by his brother Raul Escoto and sister Irene Brady and many nieces and nephews from all sides of the family. Recently, Pastor Louis Escoto and Lidia presided over Camino a la Vida Church in Kent, WA., a Spirit-filled church and loving people since 2016, where he preached his last time on Resurrection Sunday, March 31, 2024. He served his Lord for almost 70 years, giving testimony of his faithfulness until the end.

    El Reverendo Louis L. Escoto nació en Tucson, AZ el 5 de marzo, 1936. Se graduó de Phoenix Union High School en 1955, y recibió a Jesucristo como su Salvador cuando tenía solamente 19 años. Casi inmediatamente recibió el llamado como Pastor e ingresó al Instituto Bíblico Latinoamericano (LABI) bajo la dirección del Reverendo Teodoro Bueno, de donde graduó en 1960.

Su ministerio comenzó bajo la cobertura del Pastor Frank Romero en Phoenix, Arizona en Betel Asambleas de Dios. Después sirvió como pastor asociado en Albuquerque, NM, y más tarde como pastor en Madera, CA. En 1972, el Señor lo llamó para comenzar una obra en Phoenix y así, en 1974, estableció la Iglesia Ebenezer (ahora Way of Life), levantando ese templo desde sus cimientos. Durante sus 23 años de ministerio en Phoenix, Dios lo usó no sólo para construir un templo físico, sino también para edificar Su Iglesia e influenciar muchas vidas. Siguiendo los pasos de Pastor Frank Romero, de su ministerio surgieron muchos ministros y pastores, muchos de los cuales todavía continúan cumpliendo con su llamado y sirviendo al Señor en diferentes capacidades. Ebenezer fue pionera en su región en muchos aspectos de organización, desarrollo y liderazgo, y la obra continúa hoy con Way of Life, sirviendo en el liderazgo a nivel Distrital bajo el Pastor Burke Montoya.

El Pastor Escoto creía en la sencillez y en el poder del Evangelio, afirmando que el primer llamado que tenemos es de compartir el Evangelio con todos. “Predica el Evangelio”, fue la orden que recibió del Señor, y vivió y cumplió su llamado aún en sus últimos días aquí en la tierra, testificando al personal médico en el hospital. Apoyó y financió obras en Buckeye, AZ, ministerios en San Luis, Río Colorado y Sinaloa, México, y viajó a España nueve veces con la organización de Empresarios del Evangelio Completo, predicando e interpretando allá en los primeros años de la década de los 2000.

Al Pastor Escoto le precedieron en la muerte su primera esposa Rachel A. Escoto, (LABI Clase de 1961) con quien estuvo casado por 28 años, y su segunda esposa Jessie Salgado Escoto, (LABI Clase de 1961) fundadora de varios hogares y ministerios de mujeres en el área de Portland, Oregon. También le antecedió en la muerte Jordan Peck, nieto por parte de Jessie. Le sobreviven su esposa por los últimos 19 años, Lidia Castorena Escoto; sus hijas, Tess Escoto Arcio (Jeff Arcio) y Marcine Kniss (por Jessie), y su nieta Camille Peck (por Marcine). También le sobreviven su hermano Raúl Escoto y su hermana Irene Brady, y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas de todas las familias. Recientemente, el Pastor Louis Escoto y Lidia presidieron la Iglesia Camino a la Vida en Kent, WA., una iglesia llena del Espíritu y gente amorosa desde 2016, donde predicó por última vez el pasado 31 de marzo de 2024 en Domingo de Resurrección. Sirvió al Señor por casi 70 años, dando testimonio de su fidelidad hasta el fin.
