Rev. Allen D. Capek
Rev. Allen D. Capek, 92, of Divide, CO, entered eternal life on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Bear Creek Senior Living in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born on April 16, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Frank and Marie Capek. Allen became a child of God through faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ, when he was baptized as an infant. He was also confirmed in the Christian faith at Fairview Ev. Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. Allen attended Northwestern Preparatory School and Northwestern College, both in Watertown, WI, and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, WI in 1956. He married the former Ruth Gaulke at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee on June 4, 1955 .
Allen was blessed to minister to congregations in Nebraska and Wisconsin, and in Canada. He was ordained as a minister of the Gospel at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Rising City, NE, in July, 1956. He also served the Lord as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Franksville, WI, during which time he was instrumental in establishing a new congregation in Somers, WI. He then served as the pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Campbellsport, WI, and of Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Carstairs, Alberta, until his retirement in 1997 after forty-two years of ministry to the Lord and his Church . He and Ruth retired to Divide, CO. Allen continued to preach for some years as needed in the congregations of Colorado. He enjoyed life in the mountains until the Lord called him to his eternal home.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; sister, Shirley Potter; children, Bruce (Vivian) Capek, Sue (Steven) Ihde, David (Betsy) Capek, Donna (Tom) Hartwig, and Paul Capek; grandchildren, Sarah Capek, Amy Capek, James Capek, and Jacob Capek, Paul (Kelly) Ihde, Karen (James) Weiland, Brenda Capek, Lisa Capek, Jonathan Hartwig, Katherine (Songsay) Ratana, Daniel (Kathryn) Hartwig, Joshua (Kirsten) Hartwig, and Rachel (Nathan) Hensler; great-grandchildren, Elijah Weinrich and his adoptive mother Sarah Weinrich, Hannah, Isaac,Isaiah, Esther, and Aaron Ihde, James and Joshua Weiland, Ella and Luke Hartwig, Elliot Hartwig, and Ailith Hensler; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Capek; brothers, Foster and Russell Capek, and granddaughter, Rachele Ihde.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Fount of Life Lutheran Church, 6650 Omaha Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO, with Rev. Jared Lindemann officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
