Reuben's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden unexpected loss of our beloved Reuben Vom Shiraz. Reuben was a cherished member of our family and our constant companion. A gentle giant, he brought joy to many throughout his life.
As a certified therapy dog, he visited families at the NIH Children's Inn, participated in R.E.A.D. at the local library, and visited patients at the Georgetown Medstar Hospital. In addition, he served as a neutral and "demo" dog at Capital Dog Training Club. He earned multiple AKC titles in temperament and obedience and loved to ride on a jet ski and float on a raft at the lake. Most recently, he learned to ride as Mark's co-pilot on the back of a three-wheel Harley Davidson.
Reuben will be especially missed for his incredible intuitiveness; he could always sense the perfect amount of enthusiasm with which to greet humans or canines. A truly remarkable guy, he got along with everyone. He will be especially missed for his incredible ability to snuggle. Each night before bed, we'd say "Reuben, snuggle" and he'd make himself cozy next to us and fall asleep as we gently stroked his head. We will miss our sweet Reuben, may he rest in peace.
