Renate's obituary
She was such a fighter and survivor and bravely battled CHF. Just when we thought she beat it, her heart gave in rather suddenly.
Mutti was full of joy. Her kind spirit radiated from her face and eyes. She was gentle and always there to help. She was full of fun and enjoyed a little mischief here and there. Everyone she met was immediately her friend.
She was always excited to see new places and loved this beautiful country. She loved traveling to the National Parks.
The Ashcraft and Grzych families, as well as all of our friends took her in like one of their own. Always grateful for that.
Mutti requested cremation and that we scatter her ashes in a place that truly amazed her from the first time she saw it. We will make the location known when we have her Memorial.
My mom grew up on a farm in Herbsthausen, Germany. Early in life she lost her beloved older brother, Horst, while fleeing from the Russian invasion. A few years later she had to flee because the wall between East and West Germany was being built. She was also preceded in death by her mom, Helene Holzmann (1963), who she loved dearly, and her dad, Adolf Holzmann (1980), her husband, Gerhard W. Rohde (2012) as well as earlier this year her younger brother, Heinz.
She is dearly missed by her daughter, Sabine Miller and her husband William D. Ashcraft, her son, Falko R. Rohde and his fiance Chris (Stuttgart, Germany), her daughter Sylvia Rohde and her partner Birgit (Ebhausen, Germany), as well as a lot of friends and family, too many to name here.
