Reggie's obituary

Mr. Reginald L. Baltimore also known as "Reggie", 62, entered eternal rest on Friday, November 14, 2025, at his residence in Temple Hills, Maryland. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Willie Fred Baltimore Sr. and Mary Jo Wilson, Reginald’s life was marked from the beginning by a sense of promise and purpose. His childhood pastor once spoke over him, “He’s going to be somebody special,” a declaration that proved true throughout his life of service, leadership, and unwavering devotion to others.

Reggie began his education in the Louisville Public Schools at Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School and Parkland Junior High School (later renamed Lyman T. Johnson), and he graduated from Southern High School in 1981. A dedicated student-athlete, he excelled on the football field and earned numerous awards that reflected his talent, discipline, and perseverance.

Immediately after graduation, Reggie enlisted in the United States Navy, embarking on a distinguished 22-year career. He served with honor and excellence in multiple roles, including Operations Specialist (OS), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS), Master-at-Arms (MA), Command Fitness Leader (CFL), Master Training Specialist (MTS), Work Center Supervisor, Leading Petty Officer (LPO), Chief Petty Officer (Initiated), and Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO). His hard work and professionalism earned him recognition as Naval Recruiter of the Year (ROY) and Sailor of the Year (SOY). Lifelong friendships were formed during this season, especially with three Navy brothers he cherished deeply: Gregory Tanner, Patrick Reliford, and Antoine Walker.

After retiring from active duty on September 30, 2003, Reggie continued a purposeful career in government-affiliated security services, as a Foreign Disclosure Officer with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and later with the United States Postal Service.

Reggie’s spiritual foundation began early. At the age of eight, he was baptized at Joshua Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville. There, he participated joyfully in ministry, singing in the junior choir, playing basketball, and riding proudly in the church vans. In his later years, he became a committed member of First A.M.E. Church of Alexandria, where he served faithfully as a Trustee, sang in the choir, and supported his church’s leadership with dedication and humility.

In 1986, Reggie married his childhood friend Gloria Garner, and from this union they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Alana Saunders. Alana, lovingly referred to as his “hybrid” kid, shared with him a wide range of interests including sports, cartoons, technology, swimming, chess, and collecting keepsakes. Their treasured moments at the pool and beach were among the highlights of his life.

Reggie married Stephanie Mack-Baltimore in 2013 and together they formed a beautiful, blended family. Reggie and Stephanie shared a deep bond and a profound love. She was his steadfast partner, and throughout his illness and transition, Stephanie lovingly and faithfully cared for him, a reflection of their devotion to one another.

Reggie was a man of many passions—fishing, shooting pool, landscaping, music, and even break dancing. He enjoyed friendly competition, especially when playing his favorite game, Battleship. One of his most cherished memories was spending Christmas in 2023 with his siblings, a moment he lovingly called “the best Christmas ever.” Known for his charm, humor, and ability to connect with anyone, Reggie truly never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Fred “Pepaw” Baltimore Sr. and Mary Jo Wilson, his bonus mother Sheila Ann “Mamaw” Baltimore, and his brother Willie Fred Baltimore Jr.

Cherishing his memory are his devoted wife, Stephanie Mack Baltimore; his daughters, Alana Saunders, Lolina Mack, and Antoniette Smalls; his mother-in-law, Queen Mack; and his adopted son, Joe Warfield. He is also survived by loving sisters: Aleatha Jean Coleman (Kerry), Brenda Shobe (Patrice), Angela Denise Saunders (Damon), and Shelinda Baltimore; and devoted brothers Glenn Baltimore (Elaine) and Deshawn Baltimore (Vonnie).

Reggie’s life was enriched by the children he loved as his own: goddaughters - Maya Alexis Davis Williams (Nickayl), Tressia Davis, and Mycah Alexandrea Davis, and his godson, Rodney Davis. He is further survived by a large and loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives were brightened by his presence.

Mr. Reginald L. Baltimore will be remembered as a man of unwavering service, heartfelt kindness, and enduring love. His life touched countless people, and his legacy will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
