Reed's obituary

JOHNSEN, Reed Alan, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2019, at the age of 54. He was born on October 24, 1964, in Holyoke, Massachusetts. At the age of 13, Reed moved with his family to South Florida in January 1977. As he stood at the bus stop during his first week in Florida, snow began to fall. We believed it followed us to our new home, as it had never snowed that far south and hasn't since.

Reed was always quick with a joke, had many interests, and was a free spirit at heart. Hopping on one of his motorcycles and visiting a new venue was not uncommon, and being a chef by trade, he loved being a “foodie!” He was an avid golfer and loved to play on his days off with family and friends. Sometimes it got the best of him and sometimes he made par. Either way, he loved the game and kept coming back for more regardless of the final number. He spent quite a bit of time banging his drums, videotaping his progress, and learning new tracks. He played the drums since childhood and looked up to many who were well-respected in the field. He was employed with Duffy’s Sports Grill for close to three decades where he was surrounded by the people he cherished most. He called it “Doofy’s” and all who knew him were aware how much that family meant to him day in and day out.

He is survived by his mother, Alexandra M. Stone, and stepfather, Louis J. Collin, of Boynton Beach, FL. Predeceased by his father, Richard A. Johnsen, of Palm Springs, CA. Surviving siblings include brother, Frank A. Page (Diane Lanzillo) of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and sister, Jade A. Stone, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was the uncle to nieces Lauren Wellmer Mondell (Skyler Mondell) and Amanda Page Bramlett (Gregory Bramlett) and nephew Zachary Wellmer (Kylie Perez). He is also survived by many close aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends in Massachusetts and throughout the country.
