Rebecca's obituary
On April 5th, 2025, our hearts were shattered with the passing of Rebecca Sue Smith, 48. Rebecca was extremely loving, a gentle soul, who was known for her love of helping those she encountered. Rebecca was born on December 29th, 1976, the day after her dad’s birthday and was his best birthday gift. The day she was born, her father, LeRoy took his time getting ready to take her mom, Bonnie, to the birthing center for her delivery. She was almost born in the 1957 Pontiac! Rebecca was the fourth out of five daughters born to LeRoy and Bonnie. She was also the only blonde haired, blue eyed girl! Rebecca had a very special bond with her parents and enjoyed numerous activities with each of them. Jump rope for heart competitions, volleyball games and choir concerts, where Mom loved to hear Rebecca sing were some of the activities the two enjoyed doing together. Whether working motorcycle races or watching her dad race, working at his motorcycle shop or watching scary movies, as long as she was by his side she was happy.
Rebecca’s most favorite person ever was her daughter, Malysha. On the day she was born, Rebecca’s world changed and completely revolved around Malysha. The trips to Hawaii, caring for Malysha after birthing both of her sons and just spending quality time together everyday were some of Malysha’s most fond memories with her mom. As Malysha said “My mom was the best mom ever and was the reason I wanted to be a mom.” They have a beautiful bond and Rebecca’s love for Malysha only intensified when both of her grandsons were born. The boys love their grandma so much, and enjoyed spending a lot of their time with her. If you looked at her phone, you’d see that the boys were two of her biggest loves. Any time you’d talk to her, you could hear their sweet giggles because they were always near her.
Rebecca moved to Washington and started a new chapter in which she was blessed with an amazing group of friends who loved her so much. That group of friends supported Rebecca all the remaining days of her life and became her second family. Thank you Tanesha, Mildred, Ryan and Natajia, for always being there and loving Rebecca just like we did.
For almost 20 years, Rebecca shared her life with Ed and traveled to many places to find adventures. During their many adventures, she got to experience some of her favorite places and things, like sloths in Costa Rica, sightseeing in New York and quick trips to Canada.
Our “Becky Crocker” was known for her incredible baking skills which she got from her mama. She was thrilled when she could share her delicious dishes with those she loved. One of her favorite things to do when she came home to Idaho was to go to her grandparents house, make cookie dough, shape it into balls and freeze them, so her grandma could have cookies whenever she wanted. We all loved her homemade caramel sauce because it was basically famous in our family. Some people, not naming any names, would hide it, so they didn’t have to share with others. Not only did she have a love of baking but she loved getting delightful homemade treats from her Aunt Ronnie, who even during a hard time made her homemade fudge because Rebecca was craving it. Small loving gestures went a long way with Rebecca.
Another love of Rebecca’s life was animals. She was able to pet the wild cats around her family home- she just had a calming spirit that animals loved. She had many wonderful pups that she treated as her family. Rebecca volunteered and supported the Bulldog Haven NW in Washington. She adored all the people she met through the rescue and had a heart for animals and service.
A heart like Rebecca’s doesn’t come around often, she was welcoming of everyone, stood up for what she believed was right, she helped and supported so many people even when they didn’t know they needed it. We always had to be careful talking about things we liked with her because she would find what it was and have it sent to us almost immediately. She always gave back, and made sure anyone around her was fed as well.
So many stories, so many beautiful moments and precious time was spent with Rebecca that we could go on forever. She was truly a special light in this world.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her father, LeRoy Smith and grandparents, Harold and Barbara Anderson.
She is survived by; Bonnie, her mother; Malysha, her daughter; Priest and Qasim, her grandsons; Maryann, Dorothy, Veronica(James) and Jennifer, her four sisters; Derek (Tianna), and Gunner, her nephews; Breanna and Madilynn, her nieces; Gage, Weston, Colt and Henry, her great nephews; Brinleigh, her great niece. As well as many other family members.
We miss Rebecca more than we can express, our world is less bright without her here with us. She will live in our hearts, memories and silly, corny jokes as long as we live. Rest easy, My Beautiful Amazing Mommy, until we meet again.
