Becky's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rebecca "Becky" Stoots (born July 24, 1949), who left us on November 15, 2023. Becky was a beacon of light to her family and friends, known for her bubbly, witty, and warm personality. Her legacy of kindness and generosity is a testament to her beautiful spirit.
Becky was a beloved mother to her daughter, Heather Hicks, who survives her. She was also a cherished grandmother to Christian, Jonathan, Elizabeth, and Tyler Hicks, Rachel and Ashley Stoots. Her sister, Jeanne Cluelow, also survives her. Becky was predeceased by her husband, Howard Stoots, her son, Edward Scott Stoots, her parents, Harry and Elizabeth Ellis, and her brother, Harry "Buzzy" Ellis.
Becky was a proud alumna of Big Creek High School in War, West Virginia. After graduating in 1967, she embarked on a journey that would see her live in numerous places, including Cincinnati, OH, Coalwood, WV, Flint, MI, and finally Fridley, MN. She married the love of her life, Howard Stoots, in 1972 and they were blessed with two beautiful children.
Professionally, Becky showcased her entrepreneurial spirit and creative talents by buying Arcade Florist in 1988. Later in life, she dedicated her time to helping others as a volunteer at VFW post 363 in Fridley, MN. Her strong work ethic and love for serving her community was evident in everything she did.
Becky loved Contemporary Christian Music and was an enthusiast of TV shows like NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order. She was an ardent supporter of University of Michigan Football and loved playing Bingo and card games. Above all, her favorite activity was spending quality time with her friends and family. Becky had a fondness for the color blue and enjoyed vacations in Florida and spending time at Italia Gardens, a local Flint favorite and VFW Post 363 in Fridley MN.
A lover of coffee and a woman of wisdom, Becky always reminded others to be kind as you never know what someone is going through. Her greatest accomplishment was being there for her family and always extending kindness to others.
