Rebecca's obituary
Becky was born to George Dodd and Eva Penn Dodd Ingram on September 3, 1936 in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Growing up, Becky always enjoyed singing and performing. After moving to Pennsylvania, she attended Steelton Highspire High School and was a lifelong Rollers fan! Later in life, she earned an Associate Degree after attending Harrisburg Area Community College. She retired from the Pennsylvania Civil Service Commission.
In 1953, Rebecca met Jesse Brooks, her first love. Rebecca and Jesse went on to have six beautiful children, Eva, Tony, Kimberly, Kelvin, Cynthia, and Barbra Lynn.
Becky dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She excelled at propping up her siblings, friends, children, and grandchildren and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others.
Becky loved to sing and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in a choir stand singing God’s praises. Becky loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible by ministering in word and song. She was a proud member of CAMA and an avid member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, where she served the Lord as a choir member, deaconess, and later an Evangelist. A loyal servant to God, Becky spent many of her hours dedicating her life to the Lord by singing his praises and helping others.
Now that Rebecca has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Becky’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. In heaven, she joins her parents, George Dodd and Eva Ingram, her brothers Conway, Marshall, and Robert Dodd, her sister Barbara Evans, her son Kelvin Brooks, grandchildren Ian and Omar Long and a host of other friends and family members. She leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Minister Eva Everett (and husband Dannie Everett), Anthony Brooks (and wife Camille Brooks), Rev. Dr. Kimberly Brooks (and wife Andrea Brooks), Cynthia Brooks, and Elder Barbra Lynn Brown (along with husband Rev. Dr. Tracy Brown), step-children Helen Parham and Jesse Brooks, Jr. (and wife Virginia), grandchildren Nakia Scott, VaLonda Brooks-Harris, Terry Sneed, Jr., Elisheva Pierce, Anthony Brooks, Brianna Moore, Austen Brooks, Kennedy Brooks, Kimberly Brooks, Jr., Aunbrielle Green, and Karris Brooks, as well as her siblings Myrtice Davenport, Brenda Turner, Charles Dodd, Wanda Jackson, and many other loving friends and family members.
