Rebecca's obituary

Rebecca “Becky” Campbell Darby, 71, passed away peacefully in her home in Slidell, Louisiana, surrounded by her loved ones on November 20, 2025.

Born on August 26, 1954, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Becky became a proud native of Slidell in 1960. She graduated from Slidell High School in 1972, where she was known for her quick wit, outgoing spirit, and memorable athletic talent.

Becky built a respected 36-year career as a dedicated legal assistant, beginning with Foley & Judell Law Firm and later retiring from Adams & Reese Law Firm in 2019. Her work ethic, loyalty, and warm personality left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

While she excelled in her profession, Becky’s greatest joy in life was her family and her treasured circle of friends. She lived life fully and fearlessly, always planning her next adventure, earning her the beloved nickname “What’s Next Beck.” She was a true lover of life, laughter, and good times, and she could often be found gathering with friends or enjoying a lively party.

A devoted football fan, Becky especially loved her New Orleans Saints. Sundays were sacred, spent cheering loudly and proudly for her team.

Becky is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Billy Wayne Darby; her children, Angela Willis Davis and husband Joel, Whitney Ball and Billy Darby; her adored grandsons, Blake Davis and Caleb Davis; her brother, Wayne Campbell; and her sister, Pam Campbell Brinson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion G. Campbell Jr. and Claire Bieller Campbell, along with many cherished loved ones who welcomed her home.

Becky will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, boundless energy, and the deep love she shared with all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Becky will be held at First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger Ave, Slidell LA 70458 on Saturday, December 13th at 1:00 p.m., with a reception immediately following at 2228 Carey St, Slidell LA 70458. As Becky often said after retiring, “Dresses are for weddings and funerals.” Because this gathering is truly a celebration and not a funeral, we invite everyone to attend in their best Saints gear in Becky’s honor. In lieu of flowers, food offerings are welcomed for the reception following the service. Drop off or delivery starting at 11a to 2228 Carey St, Slidell LA 70458
