Rebecca (Becky) Heikes Buys, 63, of Sherman Texas, passed away on June 19, 2019.

Becky was born January 6, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa to Richard and Ruthan Heikes. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard; her mother, Ruthan; and her sister, Christine. She is survived by her husband Merlin; her two sons, Brandon and wife Carrie, and Grant and fiance Missy Williams; her two step-children, Erryn (Jeff) Buys-Steiber and Brenden Buys; her two brothers, Tim (Barb) and Dale (Leslie) Heikes; her sister, Jan (Steve) Spratt; her five grandchildren, Brayden, Aubrie, Nolan, Elijah, and Elly. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Becky graduated from Homer High School in 1974 and then started schooling at Fort Dodge for a merchandising degree but she shortly found out that was not her calling in life. She did find her calling in nursing. She studied at Western Iowa Tech, graduating with a registered nursing degree in 1994, and went on to work as a SR. Manager Area Occupational Health Nurse for Tyson Foods, Inc.

Becky was a very private woman. If you wanted to know her cause of death, she would have told you that it was none of your business, and to let her rest in peace. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious laughter, and her love for her family and friends. She enjoyed watching the same movies over and over again (no matter how terrible they were), cooking, and playing games on her phone with family and friends.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held, in lieu of a service at the residence of Tim and Barb Heikes on July 5th from 6pm – 8pm.
