Raymond's obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond "Ray Cavalli" Welch, Jr., who left us on May 21, 2025. Born on August 7, 1965, Raymond, lived a fulfilling life that touched many with his friendly, encouraging, and uplifting persona. There was no way, upon meeting him that you missed his big personality, infectious smile and unmistakable fashion sense. He had a passion for helping others, and lived life on his own terms. A self-fashioned Renaissance Man, Raymond had a keen business sense, and a tenacity that was admired by all.

Raymond was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio to Raymond Welch, Sr. and Wanda Burrus, who were high school sweethearts. Raymond attended Columbus Public Schools, including Franklin Middle, East High and Walnut Ridge. A salesman at heart, he excelled at not only the sales process, but training others to refine their sales acumen. Raymond lived in many places including Salt Lake City, Tampa, and Phoenix which was were he passed.

Raymond's legacy is one of hopefulness, always reminding us to gaze with optimism towards the future and to seize each day with vigour. He will eternally be remembered as a beacon of hope and positivity.

Raymond is survived by his son Darien Curtis (Savannah, GA), his siblings, Dawn "Akua" Clark, and Bryan Stallings, Darryl Welch, and Knots, step-siblings Donna Jean, Ricky Clark, David Clark and Lisa Clark, his aunt and uncle Marilyn Webb and Wilbur Burrus, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews an great nieces and nephews and other friends who became family all over the country.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Welch, Sr. and Wanda H. Burrus Miller, his deeply loved great aunt Louise Sims, grandparents on both the Welch and Burrus sides of the family, his ex wife Sally Kay Waters, youngest brother, Kambon Taifa Kali and beloved step-sisters Tonya Clark and Delena Edwards. His loss has left a void in our hearts and he will be deeply missed by the family and all those who had the privilege to know him, including our extended family on Bryden Road, the Ridleys, Barnetts and Bennetts.

A Celebration of Life Reception for Raymond will be held on August 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 2400 Holt Rd in Grove City, Ohio. We invite all who knew Raymond to join us in honoring his life and sharing memories of his memorable journey. Please RSVP for this event.

In Raymond's memory, we request that you make a contribution to the American Heart Association via the link that will be provided. Let us all continue to have hope for the future, making each day count as he always encouraged us to do. His loss is deeply felt, but his legacy remains in his lessons and the hope he propagated.
