At an early age he joined MT Holy Baptist Church. Raymond was educated at Orange County School. He Was employed with Evan door Lumber Company for over 35 years. He also Hauled and sold cars for different people, Everyone used to call on Raymond cause he did a good job and he was the cheapest person around, and sometimes he didn’t charge. That’s how much Love he had for people. He was all about helping whoever he possibly could, until his health failed. He was a very humble person and never complain about anything. In the year of 1958 Raymond married Shirley Washington. In this union four children was born. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Washington his son Raymond Eugene Washington, his Parents Booker T Washington and Lois Washington, and three brothers Bobby Washington, Charles Washington and Alvin Washington. He leaves to cherish two daughters, Pamela and Henry Coleman of Spotsylvania VA, Shelia and Edward Newman of Pennsylvania, and one son Steve and Bridget Washington of Rhoadesville VA. One brother Clarence and Barbara Washington, two sisters Clara and Thomas Jackson and Lois and Wesley Ragland. Two sister in law’s Phyllis Washington and Bernice Washington. Two brother in law’s James Fowlkes and Billy Simpson. Grandchildren Sharnat and Howard Blakey, Darrin and Janetria Coleman, Keith and Ebony Coleman, Cornell and Angie Washington, Shamana Cater(Chris) Chiquita Ferguson (Ricky) and Sherica Fitch. 16 great grands and 2 great great grands. And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Devoted friends who always looked out for Raymond, Donald Turner and Betty Turner and Raymond Offer.
