Raylene's obituary

Raylene Margaret Pennington (Krauss) went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2025, after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. At the age of 63, she passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and friends, free from pain and embraced by eternal peace.

Raylene was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hurm "Dale" Pennington; her parents Ray and Allene Krauss; and her sons Brent and Trent Moore. She leaves behind her cherished daughters, Deah Moore-Hosterman and Sonya England Collins (husband Brandon Collins); her son, Pete Ussery (wife Mckenzie Ussery); her siblings, William "Billy" Krauss, Kristy Turley (husband Jay Turley), Terri Better (husband Mike Better), Steve Hallmark (wife Debbie Hallmark), and Jeannie Riddle (husband Les Riddle). Raylene's legacy lives on through her adored grandchildren: Rachael, Ryan, and Bella Ussery; Caitlin and Jacob Hosterman, Anna Vissali (partner Piper Spencer); and Dakota and Kalea Collins. She is also survived by countless dear friends and "adopted" children who were touched by her boundless love.

Raylene's life was marked by remarkable achievements and a servant's heart. In 2018, at the age of 56, she proudly earned her degree in Public Health from Texas A&M University (Whoop!), a milestone that deepened her connection to the Aggie family she cherished. She continued her selfless service as a Disaster Assistance and Recovery Agent with Texas A&M AgriLife, followed by multiple roles with the Texas Division of Emergency Management, where she supported Texans during times of crisis. Known as "Mom" to many, Raylene's warmth, generosity, and unwavering support left an indelible mark on her community. She would say, however, her greatest achievement was her children. Whether she was with her family, colleagues or welcoming friends into her home, she lived with compassion and grace.

A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Zedler Mill in Luling, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Healthcare of Texas Hospice House Huguley, in Raylene's honor, to support the compassionate care she received. Donations may be made at www.chot.org. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
