Raniel's obituary
Raniel Panlaqui Velez sadly left us on November 4th, 2022 after a five year battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at the age of 57, surrounded by friends and family. He is survived by mother, Carmen Panlaqui Velez, wife, Glenda Quitoriano Paneda and children, Reneille-Gian Paneda Velez, Raynor-Jerome Paneda Velez and Rynan-Mick Paneda Velez, daughter-in-law, Janelle Thi Son and brothers Rodney Velez and Randy Velez. He is predeceased by his father, Dr. Alfredo Ruiz Velez and two brothers, Renato Velez and Rolando Velez.
Raniel was born in Caloocan City, Philippines on September 4, 1965 to Dr. Alfredo Ruiz Velez and Carmen Panlaqui Velez. He attended Notre Dame for his primary schooling, followed by National College of Business and Arts (NCBA) of the Philippines before coming to America at the age of 21. While living in Los Angeles, California, Raniel fell in love with the girl next door, Glenda Quitoriano Paneda. On September 10, 1989, the two were married at the Candlelight Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Throughout the years, he welcomed his three beautiful children into the world and later became a grandparent to Grandson, Jaxon Son Velez. In 2020, Raniel retired from Costco after an amazing 22-year career.
Raniel was a devoted son, father, grandfather and a cheerful friend to all. While growing up, Raniel loved to play basketball and enjoyed rock and roll music. He will also be remembered for his funny jokes, remarkable cooking skills and of course, being a Seahawks fan. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring eternal wife and children.
A service for Raniel will be held on the 17 of November at 9am for his friends and family to pay their respects at St Frances Cabrini Parish at 5715 108th St SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at 1pm at the Downtown Marriott Hotel located at 1538 Commerce St, Tacoma, WA 98402.
The Velez family kindly requests guests to wear Seahawks gear on November 16th, followed by white-colored attire for November 17th.
