Randy's obituary

Randy Jerome Walker was born on August 5, 1966 in Valley, Alabama to Oscar Lee Walker and Johnnie Pearl Walker. He made a peaceful transition on February 26, 2021 under the care of the wonderful staff at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, GA. He confessed Christ at an early age at Rehoboth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Willie Frank Smith, Sr.

Big Walk, as he was affectionately known in the community, graduated from Valley High School in 1984. He then went on to pursue his field of study in Auto Body & Repairs at Opelika Technical College. Randy owned and operated Walker’s Paint & Body Shop in Valley, AL for over twenty years. He was a significant pillar of the community and proudly served his hometown until his untimely death.

Randy met the love of his life, Teresa McLemore whom he affectionately called “Lil Girl”. They were married on September 27, 1997 and raised three children together. Randy had a magnetic personality and was known for cracking jokes. So, there was never a dull moment in their household.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Lee Walker, his paternal grandparents (John Arthur and Addie Lee Watson Walker), and his maternal grandparents (N. Lee and Mildred Worrels Moore).
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Teresa McLemore Walker; three children K’Mya, Kelsie, and Tavian Walker, Sr.; one grandchild, Tavian Walker, Jr.; his mother, Johnnie P. Walker; two sisters, Daphne Gates and LaTanya Walker; one brother, John Allen Patterson; one mother-in-law, Carrie McLemore; two sisters-in-law, Angela (Keidrick) Moore and Erica McLemore; one brother-in-law, Christopher Little; ten nephews, Curtis Brewer, Jr., Antonio Brewer, Myles Simmons, Adarius Simmons, Jamon Patterson, Jamal Patterson, Damian Dominique Patterson; Karter Harris, Cameron McLemore, and Christavious Magby; three nieces, April Gates, Jada Little, and Tyra Stinson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Randy never met a stranger, and he possessed the type of charisma that people were naturally drawn to. He loved his family, and he loved his community. Big Walk was always willing to do whatever he could to help those in need. The city of Valley was made better because of his service and commitment. We will greatly miss his sense of humor, his smile, and his caring nature. But we trust that heaven is rejoicing and we thank God for allowing us to be blessed with his life.
