Randy's obituary

Randy Michael Derrick, 64, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma left this life suddenly on earth to join God and his loved ones in Heaven on Friday August 5, 2022.

Randy was born December 26, 1957 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Richard and Delphine (Grabinski) Derrick. He attended East Grand Forks, Minnesota Public school systems and graduated with Honors from EGF Senior High School in 1976. Randy played a plethora of sports in his youth, hockey, baseball, football, track, tennis and golf…but his love was hockey, playing for over 13 years in parkboard as well as school affiliated and club hockey programs. Randy was awarded a prestigious 4 year hockey and education scholarship at Dartmouth University in 1976 post graduation. “Ding Ding” always strived to accomplish his personal best in all he did in sports and education. Post high school Randy moved to Miami, Florida and ended up not attending Dartmouth for personal reasons, which was always one of his greatest personal regrets. Randy was working construction and enjoying the beach, aquatic animals, fishing and developed a love of cooking. He moved back to EGF and worked in sales and service as a route distributor for Pepsi Cola in GF. Randy then moved to OKC, OK during the oil boom in the 80’s and started working in pest control and later established his own business, Advanced Pest Management. Randy lived most of his life in Edmond and the OKC area. He was a self made chef and his dream job was to become a Pit Master, his smoking and grilling was both hard earned and delicious. He loved smoking/grilling shows, canning salsa, Jeopardy tv show (as he liked to challenge his brain) and was a huge sports enthusiast. In his younger adult life he played mens softball, golfed and was a fastidious fisherman. He was involved in little league baseball with his sons, lots of outings and loving memories with his family, siblings, extended family and friends. Randy was a man of faith and became a born again Christian. He attended Lifechurch in Yukon and Mustang, Oklahoma and was passionate about his faith. He was a humanitarian helping sponser many families in need.

Randy also loved being with family and his comradeship to all he would meet, his love of laughter and being the funny man “ding ding” Derrick.

Randy is survived by his wife MaryAnn, his three children, Jaymy Ann (John) Wood, Orlando, Fl, Jesse Michael (Lauren) Derrick, St Cloud, Fl., Jerrett Michael Derrick OKC, OK., his step daughter Katie Huerta OKC, OK and one grandson, Carter Gatz; three brothers Jeff (DeAnn) Smith Moorehead, MN., James (Dana) Derrick, Yukon, OK., Robert (Chrisanne) Derrick, EGF, MN., and three sisters, Richyne ( Frank) Meyer Hudson, Wi., Sherry (Gary) Gardiner, Westerville, Ohio and DeAnn (Robert) Derrick-Knight Yukon, Ok., his Aunt Delores (Grabinski) Pederson, East Grand Forks, MN, 32 nieces and nephews, assorted cousins and other family members.
