Randy's obituary

Randall "Randy" Glenn was born on May 6, 1961 in Downy, California. Randy passed away in his O'Fallon, Missouri home on April 15, 2025. His death was sudden and he did not suffer.

Randy spent his childhood years in West County, St. Louis living with his mother and his siblings Robert, Kevin, and Karen.  After graduating from high school, he attended Southeast Missouri State University and initially studied computer programming and accounting before finding his passion in education. He earned a bachelor's and began teaching in the Fort Zumwalt School District, where he spent his entire career. Randy taught fourth grade, then social studies and reading before moving to sixth grade math at South Middle School, where he taught for over twenty years, earning his master's degree while teaching. His favorite parts of the school year were the Pi Day celebration on March 14 and doing a model rocket launch with his students at the end of the term. Randy achieved the gargantuan task of making learning math fun for students, who would look forward to entering middle school to be in his class. He was incredibly passionate about his teaching and loved staying in touch with former students. He would continue to substitute teach until the end of his life and continued to come home happy and fulfilled after a day of teaching well past his retirement.

Randy met Carol Wodell while working as camp counselors at Sherwood Forest Camp and they were married on March 18, 1989. They enjoyed late nights playing Cribbage and Acey Duecy and solving the world's problems. They had their first child, Sarah-Kate, in 1994, and their second, Mitchell, in 1996. Randy was a loving and devoted father. He took Sarah-Kate to gymnastics practice and would buy her McDonald's fries on the way home without telling mom. He coached Mitchell's first baseball team and spent hours making pinewood derby cars with him for the Cub Scouts. Randy made it a mission to take the family to a different spot in the country every summer and they tried to attend a baseball game at as many stadiums as possible.  He remained very close with his sister, Karen until the end of his life and would visit her almost every week to play poker. He never stopped taking care of his family and will be missed dearly by everyone.

He is survived by his wife Carol and his two children, Sarah-Kate Glenn (fiancé Russell Joldersma), Mitchell Glenn (wife Maggie Glenn), sister Karen Eichholz ( husband Scott Eichholz), brothers Kevin Glenn and Robert Glenn, many nieces and nephews, and many more loved ones and friends.

Always seeking to help others, Randy chose to have his body donated to science. A celebration of Randy's life will be held June 14 at 1pm at 202 W 3rd St., O'Fallon, MO 63366. All are welcome to attend.
