I'm so sorry that this brilliantly talented and giving woman has passed on.  I bought her visors starting in the late 80's and have worn them summer and winter ever since.  They are my treasures and I only discovered her passing when I tried to order more today.  Oh, how I will miss her.

There is a special place in my heart for Miss Mona. Lots of fun memories crafting and creating with her. Big heart and a lovely smile that would light up any room. She really added splashes of color to my world and I'm thankful to know her. I'll never forget the time she drove by my house and literally tossed a couple bags of wonderful scrap fabric over the fence. I made some baby blankets, bags, and stuffed bears to gift to family and friends.

What I remember most about Mona was her fierce love for people she cared about. She was especially loyal to Joni, Kevin, and Steve. Mona contacted me off and on and our last conversation was in April. She always told me she loved me and to be happy. What a treasure she was!❤️

When Malia and I were visiting with Mona one morning the summer we stayed in Kailua, I had the tingling of a sneeze coming on. Wearing just a tank top over my swimsuit, I panicked about sneezing in my bare arm. So in a quick swift I pulled my tank top up and sneezed right into my shirt. Mona stopped her story to yell, “Brooke! Unacceptable!!!” before continuing on with her story. I learned many important life lessons from Mona that trip: how to make the best Jack and coke, the importance of using the right cleaners on the correct surfaces, and many lessons which shouldn’t be repeated in a public forum. I will miss her spirit and humor so much.
I have so many fond memories of living with Mona. It was because of her that I moved to Hawaii, which was the greatest gift ever! I loved the Hawaiian culture and the breathtaking beauty that  surrounded  you each day. When we lived in Kanohoe by the mountains it was so wet that green mold grew on our shoes! So we moved into Kailua and rented a house with a pool and we were living the dream but also working really hard to afford this dream! I remember  Mona working on her crafts and sewing late each evening and while she worked rats would be running across the roof.  They sounded like a herd of elephants and we eventually got used to it. One night we came home and there was a very large dead rat hanging from the rafters. We both screamed and ran out of the house.  I can't  remember who we conned into removing the rat!!  When Mona first started her business we would haul everything to craft fairs, set up and tear down on many, many weekends. It was exhausting but fun and I was cheap labor! She introduced me to mahi, mahi, shaved ice malasadas (fried doughnuts) and bento boxes. One night I came home to find her standing on a chair, half naked trying to kill a very large flying cockroach with a hairbrush!! Yes..cockroaches are huge and fly in Hawaii. I remember her love and passion for the island, it's people and for her very successful business.  She was so talented and creative!

Mona,  thank you for your adundent love and for giving me the opportunity to live in paradise. I know you didn't want to leave Hawaii, so  in your own way, you got your wish!  I will cherish and treasure you and all of our Hawaiian memories. I love you bunches! Kerry

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Joni, Kevin and Steve. Mona was always so good to the Stecklein kids.  Remember the mischief and craziness  when all of us were together....Nine kids! We had to take two cars whenever we went anywhere. We will miss her. We love  you all. Kerry
