Ralph “Wayne” Peek.
October 27, 1945 - December 6, 2024.
Ralph Wayne Peek, lovingly known as Wayne, passed away peacefully at his home in Amarillo, Texas, on December 6, 2024, just before midnight, surrounded by love and comfort. He left behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unforgettable memories.
Wayne was born on October 27, 1945, in Salisbury, Maryland, to Henry and Geneva Peek, who preceded him in death. One of 14 children, Wayne grew up with a strong sense of family and resilience. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1969, earning an honorable discharge. Following his service, Wayne pursued a career as an electrician, a field in which he excelled.
Wayne’s greatest love was his wife, Debbie Peek, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. They were soulmates who taught their children the true meaning of love and partnership. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and cherished memories.
Known to many as "the coin man" at the flea market, Wayne's passion for collecting and selling coins brought joy to his life and those around him. He also loved fishing and was a talented guitarist and singer, often sharing his music with his family. His cheerful disposition was evident in his constant whistling and hilarious jokes, which brightened the lives of everyone he met.
Wayne was the backbone of his family. He was a strong, intelligent, and multi-talented man who was always there when needed. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, seven children, 18 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his memory and the lessons he imparted.
A private celebration of Wayne’s incredible life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024. In honor of Wayne’s memory, the family asks for donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or simply encourages acts of kindness to celebrate the life of a man who brought light to so many.
Wayne’s strength, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
