Ralph Maynard McKenzie, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on March 31, 1941, in Pekin, Illinois, Ralph spent his formative years growing up in Oak Harbor, Washington. He carried with him a deep appreciation for the values of hard work, integrity, and community that shaped his early life. A proud graduate of the University of Washington, Ralph went on to build an impressive career as a financial controller for Safeway, where he dedicated more than 35 years of service. His professionalism, steady leadership, and unwavering work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ralph’s greatest joy was his family. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Sue; his daughter, Sarah; his son Ben and daughter-in-law Steffi; his son Adam and daughter-in-law Alicia; and his cherished grandchildren, Ian, Rachel, Mia, and Leni. He treasured time spent with his family, especially on the many road trips that became lasting adventures and beloved memories.
Ralph had a special place in his heart for animals, particularly dogs. In retirement, he combined his love for helping others with his love for his furry companions, Baxter and Milo, by serving as a dedicated driver for Meals on Wheels.
