Ralph's obituary

Ralph "Daddy Ralph" Douglas Ragan, son of Lester and Gertrude (Robbins) Ragan, was born on January 7, 1934, in Milburn, Oklahoma. He passed away on December 10, 2023 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma. Ralph was 89 years, 11 months and 3 days at the time of his death.

Ralph graduated from Milburn High School in 1951. He attended what was then Southeastern State College in Durant, Oklahoma. In 1952, Ralph married his high school sweetheart, Joye “Mama Joye” (Callen) Ragan, who continued to be the love of his life for 62 plus years. Ralph and Joye both were enrolled at Southeastern State College in 1952. They both worked and managed to complete their bachelor’s degree. Most of Ralph’s work during that time was in a box factory. He went to work at 4:00 PM and ended his shift at 12:00 AM midnight, he received $1.00 per hour and worked 40 hours weekly. He was still able to complete his degree in 3 years. Ralph’s career consisted of two years military (Army), six years teacher and coach, two years as High School principal, nine years as Superintendent and 19 years as an auditor with the Oklahoma Education Association.

Ralph and Joye had two children, Terry Douglas and Joni Ranae. They also had a foster son Donald Gordon House. Together Ralph and Joye had 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Ralph is survived by his daughter, Joni Jeter of Milburn, foster son Don House of Arizona, daughter-in-law Shari Williams of Tulsa, brother-in-law Dale Callen and wife Veronica of Fillmore, 5 grandchildren Callen Ragan, Gage Jeter and husband Robin Adams, Grant Jeter and wife Mariah, Charity Williams, Savanna Weddell, 9 great grandchildren Taryn and Terrah Ragan, Ragan and River Jeter, Ja’kiyas, Ivyaniah, Ka’viyas, Baylor Kirk, Oaklyn Kirk and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding Ralph in death are his parents Lester and Gertrude Ragan, his wife Joye Ragan, his son Terry Ragan, grandson Colten Ragan and three sisters Ruth, Cletus and Venita.

Ralph “Daddy Ralph” leaves his love and good memories to his daughter Joni and son-in-law Jimmy Jeter, foster son Don House, grandchildren Callen and partner Brittany, Gage and his husband Rob, Grant and his wife Mariah, great-grandchildren Tarryn, Terrah, Ragan, River, Ja’kiyas, Ivyaniah, Ka’viyas, Baylor and Oaklyn.
