Raja's obituary
Raja Aaliyha Massey went home to be with the Lord on May 18th, 2022.
Raja was born on June 15th, 1982 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to the late Arthur Massey and Michelle Cook. She later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she resided until her passing.
Raja graduated from Lithia Springs High School and later attended college at Georgia State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After gaining years of bedside experience in the emergency room at Dekalb Medical here in Decatur, GA, she went on to complete two different Masters programs. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA from both Chamberlain College of Nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing and the University of Alabama with a Master in Public Health. With over a decade of experience, she delivered high-quality direct care to patients at DeKalb Medical, Northeast GA Physician Group, Kaiser Permanente, and finally at Grady.
In her free time, she often enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally. She explored the streets of Amsterdam, basked in the Greek sun, snapped pictures in sunflower fields in Bulgaria, and hiked every space she could find in Atlanta. Her favorite memories were those spent with family and friends. She found great pleasure in simple things, like riding bikes with Adam along the Atlanta Beltline, and spending time with their beloved pup, Ninja. Most of all Raja loved nature and baking. She was often found in the kitchen baking or outside taking a nature walk. She definitely lived out loud, and always remained positive no matter what life had to offer.
She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur Massey and Michelle Cook; maternal grandparents Sally Lue Cook and Obadiah Cook; her Uncle Glenn Cook and her Aunt Denise Cook-Fernan.
She is survived by her beloved partner, Adam Stein and their precious dog Ninja; her siblings Rodney Cook (Tahesha), Nephateria Williams, Shelby Williams and Deshon Robert Obadiah Williams, her uncles Michael Cook and Roy Cook; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services, including the viewing and funeral will be held graveside at Westview Cemetery on Saturday, May 21st starting at 10 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1 pm at her and Adam's home, 215 Napoleon Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30314.
