Rachel Marie Sparks, 55, of South Carolina, passed away suddenly at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a long struggle with depression. 

She was the daughter of the late James H. Sparks and Ruby L. Sparks. She is survived by her son, Matthew L Sparks, and daughter-in-law, Brittany N Sparks; her brothers, James T. Sparks and Michael D. Sparks; and her two beloved cats, Amelia and Spock.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy W. Sparks, and her close feline companion of 17 years, “Little Hoss.”

Rachel was a retired social worker and assistant special education teacher in Blacksburg, South Carolina. She was also an accomplished writer and poet.

The family chose to hold a private, close celebration of life.

A memorial brick was placed by Trinity Fellowship of Cowpens, SC, in their Memorial Garden.
