Raarda (Rae)'s obituary

Raarda (Rae) Ann Puhl (Pedersen) passed away peacefully on January 12, 2020. Raarda was born June 11, 1951 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Rae and her family moved to Oregon in 1955 and settled in Junction City, Oregon. Rae was confirmed on September 25, 1966 at Faith Lutheran Church. She graduated from Junction City High School then attended Southern Oregon College, where she met her future husband, Frederic John Puhl.

Fred and Rae married on June 19, 1971 and began their lives together in Tigard, later moving to Tualatin where they raised three daughters, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Stephanie. For much of this time, Rae worked in accounts receivable at Brown and Wiser in Tualatin, a distributor of Briggs and Stratton engines.

Rae was a devoted mother, wife, friend and a tireless volunteer at Living Savior Lutheran Church in Tualatin. In addition to being a committed member of the church, she participated on the Spiritual Life board, Stephen’s ministry, and helped plan the church’s commercial kitchen after a fire destroyed the old facility in 2012.

Rae was kind, generous and always acting in thoughtful service to her family, friends and community. She could be counted on to bring a pie, potato salad, or cake to any occasion she was invited to. Rae had a great sense of humor, had impeccable initiative and work-ethic and was as down to earth as they come. Wielding a remarkable breadth of practical knowledge, she was an invaluable asset to any team effort. Her character was oriented toward getting things done and enjoying the people she was working and laughing with all along the way.

The cancer that took her was a surprise and worked fast, leaving her family with a loss that cannot be articulated. We are thankful for the time we had to say goodbye, yet deeply saddened by her passing far too soon. Rae was among the brightest elements in our lives and will remain forever treasured in our hearts.

She’s survived by her daughters, their husbands and partners, two brothers, Rolland and Merlin and Fred, her husband. She will be missed dearly by her entire family, many lifelong friends, the Regulars and all of her friends in faith at Living Savior.

A memorial service in Rae’s honor will be held on Sunday, January 26th at 2 PM at Living Savior Lutheran Church, 8740 SW Sagert St, Tualatin,Oregon. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Living Savior Lutheran Church.
