Quinten's obituary

Beloved son, Quinten Andrew Tainter Harpke, 21, passed away suddenly in Bloomington, Minnesota. on December 1, 2017. Born as a light and inspiration, he lived in search of a life full of fulfillment, passion, purpose, and direction. He spoke of a great many things. He dreamed largely and ignored limits. Our lives are better because he inspired us to be better. Do better. Take the hits that this world lays upon us and keep coming forward. Quiet, relentless, powerful are you my Prince, my first.
Quinten was born September 6, 1996, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Gregory Charles Harpke Jr and Tami Lynn Tainter. From a very early age, he assumed the role of a caretaker, cleaning and arranging his space from the moment he could walk. His pride in his surroundings belied the man he became. Fastidiousness and attention to detail served him well in his young years and throughout his life. Anything pushable, that mowed or vacuumed was the world that he controlled as a child. Control was his life’s song. As he grew older, bigger, stronger, iron was the element of his control as he shaped his form into something different. Something better.
He enjoyed large powerful cars of all sizes and shapes. Straight 8’s, BMWs, Suburbans; he dreamed of one day owning a Mclaren F1. If it was large and powerful, it caught his eye and his admiration. As iron turned into metal, it was one thing he could control. It was one more thing that he could strive for: to do better.
He loved his gentle hearted American Bully, King, who would follow him relentlessly and yield to his wishes. King was his mascot, his protector, his inseparable surrogate who guided him in dark days and ushered him to a better place free of guilt, pain, and regret. He had a passion for animals. He cared for animals that the rest of us gave up on. He knew that a life, human or otherwise, needed a caretaker.: someone who cares. The caretaker fits him well. The zeal and passion in this regard, few could replicate: to do better.
Quinten loved music. He learned that when the words fail us, music and action speak volumes. We spent many afternoons in the park playing basketball and listening to Yelawolf, Waylon Jennings, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Cash, Metallica, and Miles, We spoke a great many things too numerous to mention. This I know: he was a young man of wisdom and purpose. His presence was dense and palpable. The young man I know had humility, piety and most importantly love. He knew that no matter what you do to live, drive and survive, there are still things that make us all the same. That is love: Pure and uncomplicated. The world just got in the way. He was and will always be a child of God, and a welcome addition to that eternal Kingdom. We will miss him for his gravity and earnestness. He spoke his mind, and he did better. We will love you all our days and beyond my Prince. We will do better.

Te extrañaremos mi chico Quinten. Prometo con mi vida que lo haremos mejor.
