It's been 5 weeks since I learned of Quaaneiruh's passing. I think of her every day and time has felt different ever since.
As Q's high school counselor -- I feel lucky to have known her and have had the chance to work with her for 3 years.
Quaaneiruh's spark would light up a room. Her teachers could trust her to bring her beautiful and energized spirit into their classroom communities and we were all better off for it.
Possessing an infectious enthusiasm, Quaaneiruh's bright and creative energy was unmatched and her leadership potential was always clear.
Throughout her time at Newton South I saw her offer sound advice and a shoulder to cry on to her friends. She might not have known it at the time - but she helped those she cared about to grow their resilience, to trust and believe in the power of their own voices. She gave others permission to be their real selves - even if they were scared to do so.
Quaaneiruh's recent visit to Newton South was a gift. When she talked with me about her future goals, and her love of being a mom to baby Kingston, her smile revealed a deep sense of joy and purpose.
I'll forever be grateful that she knocked on my office door the morning of 10/3 ... you are deeply missed, Q, but never, ever forgotten.
