This poem was read at Prennie's graveside service. "Chant" by Sweet Honey in the Rock was played at the end of the poem (listen below).

Mother really liked Sweet Honey and the Rock. She discovered the group on a long road trip to Memphis -- her birthplace -- with her son, Claude, and granddaughter, Kim. We played the song, "Chant," by Sweet Honey and the Rock, at Prennie's burial. The song is a musical representation of Prennie's 97 years of life. She has experienced an ocean of love, laughter, beauty, blessings, and grace. During the song, we held a moment of silent reflection where all loved ones centered their thoughts on special memories shared with Prennie.
