Pranav's obituary
Dr. Pranav Prakash, a beloved physician and cherished member of his family and community, passed away on January 14, 2025, after a brave battle with dementia. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, care, humor, and generosity that touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Born in New Delhi, India on June 4, 1952, Dr. Prakash devoted his life to medicine, becoming a trusted and respected doctor who made a lasting impact on countless patients, colleagues, and the young physicians he trained and mentored. He was known for his gentle bedside manner, deep empathy, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those under his care. His ability to listen, offer comfort, and always make others feel valued was a hallmark of his career.
In addition to his notable skill and intellect as a physician, Dr. Prakash was a man of many colorful talents including in music, athletics, and comedy. He could always find the humor in life and brighten even the darkest days with his smile and laughter. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he took great pride in being a father and grandfather. He was a source of wisdom, love, and unconditional support to those closest to him, and his loss will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dr. Prakash is survived by his wife, Christina Metrano Prakash; his daughters, Viveka Prakash-Zawisza and Shiva Prakash, and their husbands Jim Prakash-Zawisza and Christopher Horne; his stepdaughters, Kirsten Mailhot and Lia Estey and her partner Robert Miller; and his grandchildren, Saraswati, Ariel, Meera, Lila, Izzy, Charlie, Mason, Cora, and Cruz. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers and loved ones who supported him during his illness.
