Pirooz's obituary
Pirooz "Pete" Ramin
August 8, 1952 – June 19, 2025
Pirooz "Pete" Ramin, age 72, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, after having a chance to visit with family and close friends throughout the day.
Born on August 8, 1952, in Iran to Mohammed and Jahan, Pirooz brought warmth, hard work, and dedication to everything he did. He moved to the United States to pursue his education with determination, earning a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Detroit. His career was marked by technical expertise, a commitment to high standards, and making sure things got done the right way (his way).
Pirooz had a passion for Persian food, a strong work ethic, and a gift for keeping busy, especially when it came to maintaining his own home and helping others care for theirs. He had a wonderfully funny and unique sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him and made even ordinary moments memorable.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline; his children, Ben (Shana), Alex (Brittney), and Melanie (Cian); and his cherished grandchildren: Issac, Miles, Macey, and Lucas. Pirooz is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Parvin (Hassan), Parivash, Parto (Kathy), Peyman (Becki), Puran (Chris), Arash (Sophie); and survived by his stepmother Tahmineh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mohammed and Jahan, and his brothers, Parviz and Omid.
A service to honor Pirooz’s life will be held on June 28, 2025, at the Polish Cultural Center. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to National Public Radio (NPR), an organization Pirooz valued for its commitment to the truth, thoughtful storytelling, and lifelong learning.
