Phyllis's obituary
Phyllis Ann Ybarra, formerly Trefethen, was born In Newark, New Jersey on October 26, 1943. She graduated from Binghamton High School where she majored in Secretarial Work and then moved to California and became the Executive Secretary at the Northrup Corporation, an aerospace company. She was a daughter, sister, best friend, wife, mother, a nana, and eventually a great grandmother. Throughout her life, she was also an artist, a musician, a teacher, a cook, a caretaker, and an avid gardener. She loved talking to her friends and family and getting to know new people. She was devoted to her family, and never tired of sharing their endeavors and accomplishments. As we all know, she would cry at the drop of a hat, and we loved her for it.
She is preceded by her parents, Stanton & Lyneita Merritt, and her first husband, John Waterman Trefethen III. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Ybarra and his family, children Lee [Loraine] Trefethen, Wade [Sunny Valencia] Trefethen, Ryan [Elizabeth Hanks] Trefethen, Jenny [Joseph] Benton, grandchildren Brandon [Christina] Trefethen, Michael [Rachel] Trefethen, Alyssa Benton, Julian Benton, great grandson, Calvin Trefethen, brother Rodger [Joanna] Merritt, and nephews Steve, Scott, niece Karen, and great nieces Dublyn, Luna, & Norah.
