Phyllis Ann Shackford, 77, of Thomasville, NC, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024. She was born on March 8, 1947, in Gardner, MA, the daughter of the late Richard Shackford and Lillian Astramowicz Shackford. Throughout her life, Phyllis was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Jonni-AnnValdes Goulding of Lexington, NC; four grandchildren & 1 great grandchild, Joshua Paul Goulding of High Point, NC, Jenna Mae Goulding of Lexington, NC, and her daughter, Izabella Rae Lackey, age 4 (great granddaughter); as well as Elyzabeth (Lyzzi) Harris & Joecelyn (Jojo) Woodall of Denton, NC.
She is also survived by her siblings: brother Richard Shackford of Londonderry, NH; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Michael Murray of Cornville, ME; brother and sister-in-law Paul and Barbara Shackford of Harrington Park, NJ; and sister-in-law Sally Shackford of Merrimack, NH, and 9 nieces, nephews, and their partners and children. Phyllis was predeceased by her brother, Lewis Shackford, her nephew, John Murray, and her sister-in-law, Georgette Shackford.
Phyllis was a 1965 graduate of Gardner High School and later enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with Digital Equipment Corporation in Westminster, MA, from which she retired in 1999. Following her retirement, Phyllis moved to Guaynabo, PR, to be closer to her grandchildren. There, she began her second career, specializing in sewing and custom embroidery, bringing her creative talents to life. In her later years, Phyllis made her home in Thomasville, NC, and High Point, NC, where she continued to enjoy spending time with her family and friends.
Phyllis was a dedicated grandmother who cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for family extended to her nieces, nephews, and extended relatives, and she created countless memories with them all. She was also "mom" to so many of Jonni-Ann's friends through the years. She was a loyal friend, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear.
A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Phyllis's memory to Hospice of Davidson County or to the NCCC (National Cervical Cancer Coalition of Charlotte).
