Phyllis and I had been friends since 6th grade at Westwood Elementary School.  That was in 1952!!  In high school, we became good friends playing in the marching band, she on the clarinet and I on the French Horn.  We also appeared in the operettas together, and we sang in the choir, too.  We were friends throughout our lives, even though we each eventually followed different paths.  We lived near each other in Manhattan for many years, she with her husband, Stanley, and I down the street with my husband, Shlomoh.

We kept in touch by phone and email during these last few years, and I must say that I was shocked, but not surprised since I knew she was fighting cancer, to hear of her death.  What happened to her little dog, Coco?  She loved that doggy and all dogs were her friends.  She came up to my house here in Kingston with her Welch Corgis many times!!

I miss my old friend very much.

Since her brother died, I have no phone number to connect with her family.  Would someone at the funeral home be willing to call me and give a phone number where I can connect to the family?

My home number is 845-331-3265.

Dear Family of My Friend, Phyllis Trench Quinn:

Phyllis and I went to Westwood High School together, and we had stayed in touch until March of 2022.  ( I have been ill myself, otherwise I would have been in touch with her.)  She had been my friend since 1954 - 7 0 years!!

As for the Adirondack Mountain Club, we paddled a canoe and swam in the lake below the main house.  We were about 12 or 13 at that time.  We also did a lot of biking in those days together.  And we had many good times in the high school band: I played the French horn, and she the clarinet  We also sang in the choir and we both played parts in the school's operettas.

She came to the funerals of my mother and father, and she was here for me when my sister died in 2017.  Phyllis was a good, dear friend, and I will weep considerably for her passing.

Should you wish to call on me, my home phone is 845-331-3265.

My very best sympathy to you all upon the passing of Phyllis.

Pamela Milligan Sherman-Goodlife
