Phyllis Foote, age 85, of Orlando FL, passed away peacefully September 2, at home surrounded by family. She was born on November 17, 1935 in Mount Vernon, OH to Arthur H. and Verna G. McMillan. She attended Kent State University and was member of Sigma Kappa Phi sorority. On December 28th, 1955 she married Lowell C. Foote. The couple relocated to Winter Haven, Florida where she lovingly raised four beautiful children. Phyllis later retired from GTE Corporation and spent her time entertaining family and friends at their summer home in Maggie Valley, NC. Throughout life she enjoyed traveling, with a cheerful smile and optimistic nature she was always up for the next adventure. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time outdoors, taking long walks with one of her beloved dogs. She loved to start each day with a good cup of coffee with family and friends and was always there with a kind word or heartfelt message of hope to those in need. Her unwavering faith supported her throughout her life as a member of Hope Presbyterian in Winter Haven and later St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando.
Phyllis is preceded in death by Lowell C Foote and is survived by her children, Deborah D. Acosta, Jeffery L. Foote, Kelly S. Whittington and Dawn (Shelly) M. Hurst, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
To this Irish lass we raise our glass and toast: “Here’s to Phyllis, for always making the most of what life had to offer. May her kind spirit live in each of us, helping remind us to never take one single moment for granted.”
A memorial service will be held 11AM Friday, September 10 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. celebration of life is planned in November at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, FL.
