Jeanine's obituary
(Phyllis) Jeanine Belval joined her husband, Weldon, in heaven on January 11, 2022. For those she leaves behind, we are left with a multitude of memories filled with a lifetime of laughter and kindness.
Born to Phyllis and Wilbur Hamborg of Des Moines, Iowa, the cable to family read something along the lines of: "Baby girl. Everyone doing well." She lived in the city of Des Moines in her early childhood before the family moved to their beloved farm "Pinehurst" in the country, right on the outskirts of the city of Des Moines.
Upon graduating from high school, she was accepted to a college in Illinois, but ultimately attended Drake University instead, where she joined in on Greek life with Alpha Xi Delta. While working for Bankers Life, she met a handsome young man named Weldon. While not instant sparks (according to her, anyway), they started dating and were wed in Des Moines several months later. Still in the honeymoon period, they moved to Nebraska. Just a year later, Matt was born. Another son, Tim, followed just a couple years later. A move to South Dakota followed next, then on to the Twin Cities in Minnesota and a job at 3M, where Weldon would spend the entirety of his career. About ten years later, they adopted Beth from South Korea, and their family of five was officially complete.
Jeanine was able to make a lifelong dream come true when she and Weldon visited Scandinavia. She was beyond thrilled to connect with distant relatives in the northern part of Sweden and truly experience both Sweden and Norway. This was her only trip overseas. She wanted to go again, but timing was never quite right.
Weldon and Jeanine made a cross-country move to Lincoln, California to be nearer all three kids in 2000. They moved to a Del Webb master community where they made many good friends and had many adventures: Sports Car Club (founding members), mah jong game days, cards, lots of travel, potlucks...
2006-7 brought everything to a screeching halt when Weldon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away in June of 2007 at the age of 69. A couple years later, she picked up her faithful companion Pearl, a white Havanese, a dog Jeanine loved so very much. As time marched on, she eventually moved to a home in Roseville and finally to an assisted living community in Fairfield.
Jeanine was truly one of the kindest, accepting, and caring people in the world. She leaves a gigantic hole in our hearts, but we are all better off having known her.
