Phread, 68, of Dennis, MA died unexpectedly on November 08, 2024 from a heart incident during routine surgery. His loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.

Phread was born on June 01, 1956 to Lili and Ken Ayres in Englewood, NJ. Phread attended Cresskill High School. After graduating high school, Phread worked as an audio engineer with Humans from Earth and worked for many years in the camping department at Ramsey Outdoor Store before going to school to find his beloved career as  middle school science teacher. Phread loved teaching and working with young people, spending many years as a youth advisor at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood.  Phread also loved being a dad to his children Genna, and Marcy, and adored both their partners, Vashti and Josh. He was beyond proud of all of them, and was happy to be an extra dad to all of Genna and Marcy's friends or anyone who just needed a Dad for a moment. Anyone who knew Phread, knew that he was a kind, loving, wonderful person who always had time to chat. In his retired years, he and Helen spent a lot of time bird watching, kayaking, and visiting beautiful scenery. Phread’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.

Contributions in memory of Phread can be made to the Campaign for Southern Equality. There will be a memorial service held at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood on Saturday 11/16 at 2pm. If you cannot attend the service, the service will be streamed on zoom.
