Phil's obituary

Phillip (Phil) Aaron Pasciak, 51, passed away November 19, 2021 in Carson City, NV from complications of Covid pneumonia. Phil was born in Oakland, CA and grew up in Benicia, CA. His death has left a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Phil lived life on his terms. He spent a fair amount of time wakeboarding with friends and snowboarding when he was younger. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed time spent on the Rubicon Trail, Fordyce, and many other Northern California trails and exploring the Nevada desert. Phil began competing in rock crawling events in 2001 and met many wonderful friends doing this. He competed in King of the Hammers in what he referred to as his “junkyard buggy.” This buggy started out as a Suzuki Samurai and morphed into an extremely capable rock crawler. Phil and some of his friends traveled to Mexico a few times, on dirt bikes, an old Crown Victoria retired police car and a limo. He enjoyed these trips tremendously! Phil also participated in Disabled Sports for several years providing transportation to participants into the Rubicon and making ice cream for them on the trail. Phil was an amazing son, husband, dad, and friend.

Phil worked in the casino industry for many years, including working on a cruise ship as a games dealer for Caesars, where he was able to travel and see the world. During this time, he skateboarded on the Great Wall of China. Phil made his transition into law enforcement in 2013 working for the State of Nevada Gaming Control Board. Phil became a firearms instructor for the Gaming Control Board and enjoyed this role. He graduated the Nevada Peace Officers’ Standards & Training as a Category I Peace Officer on November 15, 2013. Phil had recently changed jobs after accepting a position with the Cannabis Compliance Board, where he made fast friends with his co-workers. He loved his jobs and his co-workers. Phil was excited about this new opportunity and the people he was working with.

Phil was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Pasciak & Mr. & Mrs. Shamrock; and uncle, Nick Shamrock. He is survived by his wife, Kathi Pasciak; stepdaughter, Savannah Mournighan; mother, Annette Shamrock; father, Lewis Pasciak (Carmen Sotelo); sister, Gabrielle (Dave) McNamara; nephew, Casey Casebolt; aunts, Coleen (Jerry) Cooper and Judy McCormick, great nieces, numerous cousins, and friends.

There will be a celebration of life in late Spring or early Summer. Please contact pasciak.voodoo@gmail.com for information as it comes available.
