We are in shock that the booming ray of light that was Phil is gone. I have so many memories of Phil…most involving The Bulldogs travel baseball team that my son played on with Jacob. I remember Phil saying “right here, right now” when Zach was at bat. That big voice of support for the boys… He was a source of support and confidence for the boys who were lucky enough to have Phil as their coach. I consider myself lucky to have known him as a coach and friend. Mimi, Katrina, Jacob and Andrew…I cannot imagine how you are suffering…I hope all of these memories give you even a small dose of comfort as you negotiate this unfathomable loss. Sending love, comfort and prayers…and remembering the many smiles and laughs Phil brought to me.

My heart goes out to you Mimi, Karina, Jacob and Andrew. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I have such fond memories of Phil. What a lively, engaging, and fun man.
Phil and I spent time together traveling around Southern California watching our kids play sports. Along the way, he always had a great restaurant lined up—whether it was Chinese, sushi, BBQ, or even midnight breakfasts at Denny’s!
One of his favorite jokes was telling me I had missed my calling after I did some announcing for JV girls’ basketball.
He had a great vision for life, and I know that will continue to guide and support his family through these tough times.
You’ll be missed, Phil, but I can still see and feel your smiling face.

Living in the Philippines, I only ever got to meet tito Phil a few times in person, but every one of those times is a beloved memory. His warmth and cheer were infectious, and just sitting and chatting with him was always such a treat. Family gatherings felt so much more lively whenever he and tita Mimi were around. I always heard about his music, and I'm sad that I never got to see him perform.
Tita Mimi, Karina, Jacob and Andrew, I love you guys and am keeping you all and tito Phil in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to the Lachina family. Phil was a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, My favorite memories of him are watching him perform with his band! Whether it was at the Fall Fest or a local venue, he was in his element and that is the image that will remain in my heart. Rest in Peace, Phil - Until we meet again.

I am so blessed and honored to call Phil my friend. I’ll never forget our first handshake. Warmth emanated from him. And oh his laugh. He taught me so much about so many things. Not in word but in how he treated others with such respect and love and how he loved life and especially his amazing family and friends that he led by loving example.
Because of knowing Phil, I’m a better person and even a healthier person. No matter what, I always felt better after speaking to Phil or even just being in his presence. I’ll never forget him. I will miss my friend and brother but I’ll continue my life with Phil’s joyful spirit and memory in my heart in the hope that I can impact others the way that he did all of us.
May God bring His peace that passes all understanding to all of us that are hurting. Especially his loving family.

So sad to hear about his passing. I first met Phil in the early 1990’s when we both worked for Sunrise Medical. As hard as we worked, Phil always found a way to play, have fun and find something to celebrate. I was in awe of his athleticism. His hand-eye coordination was amazing, making him impossible for me to beat on the golf course, tennis court and even the ping pong table. I will miss his playful nature and competitive spirit.

Lachina Family,
I was so heartbroken to hear about Phil’s passing. His energy was infectious, and he had such a way of making everything more fun. I have so many memories of spending time at your house with Karina, especially during the years when my own dad was sick and after he passed away. During that time, Phil was like a second dad to me ("Papa Lachina"), and I’ll always be grateful for his warmth and kindness.
I especially remember the time I rear-ended another car just days after acquiring my driver's license. I was terrified, but Phil, in his typical helpful way, pulled over in the middle of a busy intersection to help me sort everything out with the other driver (and police officers).
You’re all in my thoughts, and I hope the memories of Phil bring you some comfort and peace in the days to come. He’ll be deeply missed.
With love,
Katie Donohue Johns

Shocked and heartbroken at the news of Phil’s passing. He was truly a legend. I first met Phil and Mimi though youth baseball when my son Ryan and Jacob played little league together starting when they were in middle school. Phil and I ended up both becoming part of the coaching staff and spent many years at practices, weekends and travel tournaments together. So many wonderful memories made. Phil and Jacob, both had told me it was some of the best times in their life. My son, Ryan, and Jacob and Andrew became best friends and the Lachina’s became Ryan’s second family. I was blessed to be able to spend time with Phil and Mimi just a week ago at my son’s wedding. I will treasure that last visit with Phil always. Mimi, Jacob, Andrew and Karina, may Phil’s wonderful memories be a blessing. Love you all, the Kort family.
