Phillip's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Phillip Kammerer. Born on July 10, 1939, he departed from this world surrounded by his loved ones on January 4, 2024, He was 84 years young.
He leaves a strong legacy behind, his wife of 62 years, Marva. His two children-Eric and Kristin(husband Lee). Three grandchildren Drew, Rachael, Madison and two great-grandchildren Ava and Kaia.
As a lifelong educator of 30+ years, he was passionate about his student involvement as well as passing his math skills onto next generations of students. He taught Yorktown High School for decades and in the latter part of his career did double duty adding a few classes at Ball State to his schedule.
After he retired, he enjoyed being able to travel the whole United States and World with his wife. They were able to visit 74 different countries. Although not much of a fan for swimming, he loved his lakehouse and recently made that his Indiana home. He split his time between Indiana and Florida, as Bradenton, Florida was his other residence through the winter.
He loved all things sports, from watching live games to anything on TV sports related—cable channels and expanded sports networks fueled his ability to keep up with it all, even while in Florida he kept up with all Indiana collegiate teams, watching them live as often as possible.
A commemoration of Phillip's life will take place at a later date. The family thanks everyone for their compassion and well wishes during this time. Please feel free to drop a note for the family if you’d like.
