Phil was the funniest, kind, and sweet soul. I met him at UCF games in 1997-1999. When I first met him I was like wow he's a good soul and funny. I love his stories and he seems to enjoy the reactions from other people and me. I always looking forward to seeing him at UCF games and hearing more stories from him. He is full of laughs and if you know him he brightens up the surrounding. I have so many good memories of him. He is like a Granpa to me and I believe he knows that.

Phil was always my biggest fan in softball, life and through my education. I am so grateful for the memories I have of the love and time he gave so selflessly to me. I can so clearly remember his big grin walking up to my softball games or walking up the church aisle. He would end his emails to me "Love your best softball fan Phil". All my love to his wonderful family and friends during this time.

Papa Trap was one of the jolliest souls I knew. A twinkle in his eye meant he was about to captivate you with a story or a joke. The best part was, he seemed to enjoy your reaction more than the story itself. His little chuckle at the end was proof that his mission was accomplished.
I didn't get to see him as often once I moved away so it was a delight when he came through my VRS queue. Admittedly, I stayed online with him longer than I should have after the call ended because I wanted to soak up all the time I could with him to hear all about his latest "nurse girlfriend."
I imagine everyone who knew him had a similar experience and those stories will keep his memory alive.

Phil was a big support for our daughter who was learning sign language. Beyond that they developed a fun relationship where he attended some of her softball games as well as a pageant she was in. Each contestant chose a topic to speak about, hers was about Sunday dinners and relationships. She voiced and signed her speech which brought tears to Phil’s eyes. We are thankful for the joy and friendship he brought to her and our family.
