Philip Edward Starks, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 68.
Philip was born in Austin, Texas, to Reverend Charles Addison and Sylvia Starks. Raised in a loving Christian home as a pastor’s son, he developed a deep faith and a heart for ministry early in life. Following in his father’s footsteps, he pursued a lifelong calling to share God’s word.
He began his ministry training at Northwest Bible College in Minot, North Dakota, and later completed his degree at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. A gifted musician, Philip played both piano and guitar and was a talented vocalist. He used these gifts throughout his ministry to worship and teach.
Philip served faithfully in churches across Oklahoma, Missouri, Michigan, and Texas as a Music Director, Youth Pastor, Senior Pastor and Deacon. His life’s mission was always centered on communicating the truth of God’s word through music, teaching, and preaching. He touched countless lives with his faith, compassion, and unwavering devotion to Christ.
Philip is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Wanda Starks; his son, Charles Addison Starks; his daughters, Heather Starks and Jennifer Torres; and several grandchildren in Jennifer's family. He is also survived by his brothers, Jonathan and Timothy Starks, and his sister, Tammy Cook.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. C.A. Starks; his mother, Sylvia Starks; his sister, Diana Starks; and his brother, William Starks.
The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 15th at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
