Phalander's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Phalander Patterson, born on August 15, 1960, in Manhattan, New York. He transitioned to eternal peace on December 31, 2025 in Poughkeepsie NY with Toni by his side in the hospital.
Phalander was the cherished son of the late Phalander Hifonzize Patterson and Mary Victoria Patterson. He was also a proud alumnus of the Boys and Girls Harbor in New York, where he nurtured his passions from an early age.
In his younger years, Phalander was a talented DJ, going by the name DJ Philly Phil. He would wow crowds with his skills on the turntables, bringing infectious energy to every event.
Phalander worked at MTA for nearly 30 years in IT Asset Management and was looking forward to retirement this summer. Prior to beginning his career at the MTA, Phalander worked as a state trooper for New York, but decided to change careers due to his love of technology and joined the MTA.
A proud alumnus of Aviation High School in Queens, New York, Phalander graduated in the Class of 1978, where he nurtured a deep passion for technology and all things aviation. He also graduated with an MBA in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management Class of 2004. His adventurous spirit was evident in his love for hiking, traveling, riding bikes, and zooming around on scooters. He was the life of every party, always ready to share a laugh with his infectious humor. His favorite sayings, like "All right, All right! All Right! you didn't say that last night," and "Brotha man from the 5th floor," never failed to bring smiles and joy to those around him.
Phalander had a heart of gold and a unique ability to connect with people, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Victoria, who will forever cherish their memories together, his son Michael Cole as well as his life partner Antoinette (Toni) Callistro, siblings Kalvin Patterson, Victoria Brannigan . His influence also extends to his three godchildren, Christina Reeves, James and Micheal Gross, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends who loved him dearly.
As an avid Star Trek fan, Phalander found joy in exploring new frontiers, both in life and through his favorite show, embodying the spirit of discovery and adventure. He will be fondly remembered not only for his captivating personality but for the warmth he brought into our lives.
Phalander Patterson will be missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in our hearts as we continue to celebrate his joyful spirit.
