Wiegmann family, I am so sorry. As I reflect on my childhood memories of Peter, I see him as a strong presence that embodied cool; the kind of guy that made me wish I had an older brother. Without effort, he made an impression on those around him and left us all better for it - even at a young age that was easy to see and feel. I am thinking of all of you.

“Rebellion against the ordinary” might just be a statement made for Peter Wiegmann. He was wonderfully unique and was such a kind soul for as long as I knew him. He never hesitated to treat me like family, from basement science experiments as kids, neighborhood wars as teens, to grocery store hugs as adults. Peter was a true intellectual and such a talented musician. To grow up in the house of Wiegmann meant you grew up in a house of imagination, a house of culture, a house filled with books, music, nature and art. The Wiegmann home truly inspired you to be educated and creative. It was a place were you were always encouraged to be your true wild & crazy self. What a blessing it has been to have you all in my life. The memories are endless. May Peter Rest In Peace and in turn, may peace fill your hearts. All of my love 🤍

My deepest condolences to family, friends and all that we knew and love Peter.

Please understand that english is not my first language so I'm sorry for any mistake.

Since the very first moment that we did met we had a big connection, since that first day we were in each other's life every single day, no exceptions, only very big and out of our hands events keep us from this. But we were silly and it took us to much time to realize that we did belong together. Even so when we finally did it our relationship did only grow deeper and stronger just like our feelings.

Peter was my best friend, my confident, my partner, my rock, my love and so much more. He did love to run outside, music, spicy food and hated cold weather. But most of all he was always kind and sweet, respectful and understanding, trustworthy and forgiving, very intelligent and strong. When he did set his mind in something, he didn't stop until get it. I always did admire his tenacity and will power.

He was a very private person, but when he wanted he could express his thoughts and feelings in amazing ways. Beautiful ways.

We were so different in so many ways, but we did found our way. He was a cat person and me a dog person... But he did love so much to Cappy and Hank, his cats, that I get to love them too. And he did love Nala, my puppy. We both love animals deeply and I found amazing the charity that Kirstin pick, he would absolutely love that.

I already miss him so much, but I'm so grateful for had have the chance to meet him, love him and feel loved by him. I'm so grateful for the time that we had.

I love you my sweet Sunshine. Always.

Linda and I were so saddened by Peter's death. He had such youth and vitality. I did not really know Peter, but feel like I did because of the various accounts of his life from Tom, Audrey, Kirstin, and Jeff too. The world will miss the contributions that were still to come from Peter over the decades to come.

When we were at KU Peter gave me blood on the tapes (outtakes from blood on the tracks). That album changed my life and I will always remember Peter for sharing that with me. We shared some special moments listening to Bob Dylan and other great music .

Sending so much love to you and your family at this time.

Lee Moeller
1993, Wilmington, NC, USA

My last memory of Peter was when you all came to Wilmington to visit back in 1993. I was living in this absolute shit shack of a house in the middle of the hood in downtown Wilmington. Peter came down with me, and LOVED how “punk” it was . (We had no heat, no a/c, the doors to the outside didn’t close) It was a 6 bedroom 3 story house we rented for 500 a month for the whole thing, from a slumlord.

Peter spent the night there with myself and my 7 roommates. We were up all night, wandered the streets until 3am, hung out in a coffee shop/slam poetry scene. We had so much fun. I will never forget that night.

The house was built in 1815, with 22 foot ceilings. We had stolen a Mayor McCheese “ride” from a McDonald’s Playland (I made some questionable decisions back in the day) and had it in our living room. One of my roommates parents rented out arcade games to arcades and stored unrented ones in out house as well, so that added to the fun factor. So much fun!
